Watch: Lesaffre eyes major Asia growth after $4m hub opening

French yeast giant Lesaffre is one such company. Established in the north of France over 160 years ago, Lesaffre is the world's largest producer of yeast. Over the years, its business has also branched out into the food taste, human health and nutrition, animal care, and biotechnology sectors.

In May this year, at the inaugural opening of its APAC regional hub in Singapore, we spoke to Joergen Lundgaard, managing director of Lesaffre Asia-Pacific, for this edition of our Asia's Food Leaders​ series.

The hub consolidates Lesaffre's various business streams and was set up as part of the company's expansion plans in the region. This comes after it first set foot in Asia over 20 years ago, with offices and facilities in India, Taiwan, China, South Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Lesaffre came to Singapore in 2013, starting with its Human Care business and gradually expanding in the country until the decision was made to build the hub.
